Happy Fall!
Just poppin' in for a quick update, as I'm currently hard at work on this game, school, and work. I've gotten a lot done since my last post, and most importantly, we're at a spot in this fishing game where you can cast your line, hook a fish, and it will fly back to you when you reel in! I had a lot of experience from my last game with spawn random items, so it came in handy when implementing random fish.
A new thing I learned here was how to use a little bit of physics to get the fish to fly out of the water and land on the player's head. I wanted to make sure that the fish would pop out of the water at a reasonable speed, and also fly out in an "arc" motion, which looks a lot more natural than the fish beelining up above the player. Overall, I am happy with how it looks, and I'm satisfied to see how much quicker making this mini-project has been based on the experience I've gained in the last year or two.
