Over the last few weeks I have been working on a few things, mainly a new inventory system for my Unity game and a new class on Udemy. I have also been playing a lot of Fall Guys. I really missed the simple joy of playing Mario Party 6 at my friend's house after school as a kid, and I'm glad that Mediatonic was able to capture that again!
In my Unity project, I have managed to create an inventory system where the player can pause, open an inventory menu, and then click the picture of the weapon they would like to use. I also went into Blender and made some new weapons, such as an axe and a club (right now I can manage hopping on Blender and making a few simple assets, but I definitely need to pick a time to really become proficient in modelling like I was on Autodesk Maya). The hardest part of this whole process was actually finding a way to pause every moving entity in the scene whenever the player pressed pause, but luckily I found a way!
I've also become more interested in understanding how networks work; I realized that I only have a surface-level understanding of how things like routers and IP addresses work. So I went ahead and purchased a course on networking created by David Bombal. I've only just begun and I've already learned a lot about topics such as reading binary, IP subnetting, and broadcast/collision domains. I've also gotten some experience using Cisco Packet Tracer, a network simulation tool that lets you get hands-on experience and apply everything you learn about networking. It's really an area that I didn't know much about, so I'm excited to continue learning.
